The 89th Academy Awards | 2017 on SKY TV Movies Premiere (Runs till about 6:20pm). Once we kick off, I’ll be adding little witticisms along the way and highlighting titles below in BOLD that have won and in ITALICS for things I thought/wanted to win. If it’s BOLD and ITALICS – you know ya girl One Take Kate smashed that shit.

Well – as predicted my live blogging fell off hah-hah. But if you could see my set up, well…I wasn’t going to run between rooms to live blog and miss all of the wonderful action of one of the best and most exciting Oscar Shows I’ve seen in a long time!

Kicking off with Justin Timberlake’s performance was super cute and a remix feel of his MTV Video Vanguard Award performance from a few years back and had every one on their feet dancing, even the magical Michael J. Fox

Jimmy Kimmel was strong in the opening monologue – I did laugh and to be honest he, or more to the point perhaps his writers for the night, did win me over. Best Kimmel moment: loved his burn on Trump by bigging up Meryl Streep and the standing ovation that Ms. Streep was given by the crowd.

It was incredibly special to clap eyes on the real life, flesh and blood Katherine Johnson as introduced by the wonderful women of Hidden Figures, to which Ms. Johnson was also given a standing ovation.

There was wonderment in the first musical performance which was “How Far I’ll Go” from the fantastic Disney’s MoanaAuli’i Cravalho was absolutely heartwarming in her performance, she was clearly a little anxious and getting tickled in the face by a fake wave was startling, but didn’t put her off.

Viola Davis’s win and speech for her work in Fences was electrifying and moving – not a dry eye at my house or in the Dolby Theatre and a well deserved standing o for Viola too.

Adorable moments in the show as a Starline Tours group was ushered into the Dolby Theatre unawares that they were about to meet a whole stack of famous people and star themselves in this year’s Oscars show.

I was very moved by having presenters being a mix of the influencer and the influenced presenting together; particularly Michael J. Fox and Seth Rogen respectively presenting with THE DELOREAN! Behind them! Wow.

It was very cute to see Ben Affleck having a little weep for his little brother Casey wining Best Actor in a Leading Role for his work in Manchester By The Sea.

And then…wow! What I’ll dub as The Moonlight Mistake. By some crazy twist of weirdness, La La Land did a Marissa Tomei and was announced as the Best Picture winner for 2017 but…although it originally looked like it was the fault of salty old dog Warren Beatty, it was indeed a production error that saw a duplicate Emma Stone as Best Actress in a Leading Role winning envelope handed to Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. With absolute grace, Jordan Horowitz one of the La La Land producers made sure that the mistake was rectified immediately, calling the crew and cast of Moonlight to the stage to receive their rightful Best Picture award.
