Disney and Pixar have released the first trailer and poster for their upcoming animated adventure, Gatto, arriving in cinemas across New Zealand and Australia on 4 March 2027. Set against the backdrop of Venice, Italy, Gatto follows Nero, a music-loving black cat who finds himself questioning whether he has lived the right life. When he becomes indebted to a feline mob boss, Nero is forced into an unexpected friendship that could change his future forever. The film comes from the team behind Pixar favourites Luca, Inside Out, Soul and Coco, with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Enrico Casarosa directing and Andrea Warren producing. Disney and Pixar have also confirmed that Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo and Academy Award winner Laurence Fishburne will lend their voices to the film. The newly released trailer offers audiences a first glimpse at the stunning Venetian setting, while the poster showcases Nero overlooking the city’s iconic canals.
According to Disney AUNZ and Pixar, Nero is a black cat with a passion for music, who has spent years navigating the winding streets and canals of Venice. After finding himself in debt to a local feline crime boss, Nero begins an unlikely journey that challenges everything he thought he knew about friendship, family and finding his place in the world.
